I was watching the Astronaut Farmer, and I was taken aback by the beautiful images. I would have to say that those images of the beautiful landscape made the movie. With out them I would have not enjoyed the movie as much. I think that movies should focus on the beauty that is here on earth rather than making fake scenery. Our western culture is becoming to fake, when was the last time that you stopped while on the way to some where and just looked that the world around you.
If really enjoy movies where that plot line and the dialog become part of the background and the scenery and the cinematography takes your mind off of every thing else. A few movies have done this to me, the Astronaut Farmer for the wonderful landscape scenes. The director made a point of making some of the scene more beautiful than other films.
Lord of the rings, Narnia and Harry Potter have given me that experience too but it was different. For those movies it was not when they were made up scenes but just the natural beauty of the area. I am sure that they could have edited it but it still took me away. The scenes were also not the ones where they focused on showing off the scenery. Harry Potter it was when you saw the scenery that was around not of the school. Lord of the Rings it was not the lighting of the post through the mountains. Narnia it was not when they were in the snow looking out over the whole world. The moments where when plot was happening in front of the true beauty of the film and that the beauty is just the background.
