When was the last time that you saw someone support a mix use development, or affordable housing. We are starting to not care about each other, we only care about ourselves. I know that I say starting but it is not starting it has been happening for a long time. Why do we not go back to the days that when we see someone in need we go and help them to the best of our abilities. I find that we are not even really helping our friends the extent that we should. I know that I do this too and I am part of the solution, and the problem.
I was reading a paper for one of my classes that stated that since we did not see people with different socio-economic levels we did not respect them for who they were. This was one of the reasons why the Left does better in downtown areas, support for the left was at every income level. There is an increase in population in the downtown core but they are in gated communities that do not really interact with the rest of the society. Will we become more like the USA where we are segregated by our income and social values, or will we follow the example of Northern Europe where they try to break the segregation.
