The Isotope Issue

How does a reactor shutting down in Canada cause a world wide crisis?? If you do not know about the issue a reactor that creates medical isotopes going off line because it was viewed as unsafe. This reduced the number of medical isotopes in the whole world, causing the government to over ride the decision that it was unsafe and bring it back online. This caused controversy over should it be turned back on and why was the government reaction the way it was.
Yes there were a lot of issues around the reactor, I was reading today that it could have been a non issue. If the Canadian organization would have cooperated with the other manufactures of the medical isotope then they could have increased their supplies to reduce the effect of the Canadian reactor. All of the Canadian companies involved are blaming each other for the miscommunication about the reactor information, and telling the other people involved. I would think that the companies would realize that they are the ones to blame and make the right decision and tell everybody that they made a mistake. I know that saying that they made a mistake does have legal issues surrounding it. They could be sued because they are admitting guilt, our culture needs to change about guilt. A sorry can go a long way.
The reactor if you are wondering is back up and running, and even better it is now up to code. So that means if an earthquake hits the region where the reactor is located no nuclear accident will occur. Yup that is why the reactor was taking off line the fear of a Natural Hazard.
